The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William and Sir David Attenborough, has announced that its finalists have improved vast land and ocean areas, demonstrating progress towards its goal of repairing the planet by 2030.

The prize, which awards £1 million to five winners each year, has seen its finalists protect and restore over 200 million hectares of land and sea, an area larger than the United Kingdom.

This includes projects such as the restoration of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the protection of the Amazon rainforest, and the creation of marine protected areas in the Pacific.

The Earthshot Prize aims to inspire and scale up environmental solutions, and its finalists have shown that significant progress can be made in a short period of time.
