Engineer Gets 32 Months for Bitcoin Extortion Plot Against His Own Employer

An engineer named Daniel Rhyne has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for a Bitcoin extortion plot against his own employer. Rhyne locked the company's IT administrators out of its network and demanded 20 BTC, then worth $750,000, to stop the shutdowns.
