Berlin blocks COSCO takeover of German freight forwarder

Germany has blocked COSCO Shipping's takeover of a majority stake in Hamburg freight forwarder Konrad Zippel due to national security concerns, overriding an earlier competition clearance.

The federal cabinet approved the prohibition, stating that the transaction would have deepened strategic dependencies and threatened the resilience of German and EU supply chains.
