‘Matchbox: The Movie’ Review: John Cena Can’t Make This Toy-Car Spinoff Feel Grownup

The film feels more like a stopgap between ‘Fast and the Furious’ installments than a deeply authentic adaptation of Mattel’s 73-year-old toy brand.

John Cena, an action star known for his roles in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, headlines the film but struggles to elevate the material.

The movie follows a group of friends who discover a magical Matchbox car that can come to life, leading to a series of car chases and action sequences.

Despite its shortcomings, the film may still appeal to younger audiences who enjoy fast-paced action and car chases.
