Isaias strengthens to become first Atlantic hurricane of 2026 season

Isaias has strengthened into the first Atlantic hurricane of the 2026 season, with winds of 80 mph and a minimum pressure of 975 mb. It is expected to become a category 2 hurricane and make landfall on the US's northern Gulf coast on Friday, bringing a risk of flash floods and isolated river flooding.
