Two characters open up a world of typosquatting opportunities in Chromium browsers
Researchers have discovered a technique called typosquatting that exploits rare Cyrillic and Latin letters to impersonate popular websites in Chromium-based browsers, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
This method allows attackers to create convincing look-alike domains that can trick users into visiting malicious sites, potentially leading to phishing attacks or the installation of malware.
The issue affects all Chromium-based browsers and is not limited to a specific operating system.
While there is no immediate fix, users are advised to be cautious when entering sensitive information online and to verify the authenticity of websites before providing personal details.
