Ukraine hit by deadly Russian strikes as ‘thanks’ for Trump diesel deal, Zelenskyy says
Russia launched deadly strikes on civilians in Ukraine, killing at least 22, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Moscow of using a deal brokered by former U.S. President Donald Trump to buy Russian diesel as a way to fund its war.
The strikes, which hit a shopping mall and a residential building, came as Ukraine celebrated Independence Day and as European leaders reiterated their support for Kyiv.
Zelenskyy said the deal, which involves the U.S. buying millions of barrels of Russian diesel, effectively helps fund Russia's war effort.
The Ukrainian president has repeatedly criticized the deal, arguing that it undermines Western sanctions against Russia.
