Abbas postpones Palestinian legislative elections to September 2027

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has postponed the upcoming Palestinian legislative elections, originally scheduled for November 2026, to September 2027.

Abbas cited the need to ensure the safety and security of Palestinian voters as the reason for the delay.

The elections were set to be the first in 15 years, with both legislative and presidential elections scheduled for next year.
