Steve Smith overtakes Joe Root to become the record-holder for most catches in Test cricket

Steve Smith has broken the record for most catches by a non-wicketkeeper in Test cricket, surpassing Joe Root's previous record of 235 catches.

The Australian batsman took three catches on the third day of the ongoing Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

Smith, who is known for his exceptional fielding, now has 236 catches to his name in Tests.
