Kanmon Pedestrian Tunnel in Shimonoseki, Japan

The Kanmon Pedestrian Tunnel in Shimonoseki, Japan, allows pedestrians to cross between the main Japanese islands on foot. The 780-meter tunnel has a painted line marking the boundary between Yamaguchi and Fukuoka prefectures. The tunnel opens onto Mimosusogawa Park, overlooking the water where the historic Battle of Dan-no-ura took place in 1185.
