Applied Materials’ $5 billion AI lab aims to cut chip development time in half—and restore Silicon Valley’s edge

Applied Materials, a leading chipmaking equipment manufacturer, has launched a $5 billion AI lab called EPIC. The center aims to halve the time taken for chip development. Partner companies include Intel, Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung Electronics.
