Ledger Asks Resellers in Seven Asian Markets to Pull Devices After Suspected $86M Drain
French hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has asked resellers in seven Asian markets to pull its devices from shelves after a suspected $86 million cryptocurrency drain. European electronics chain MediaMarkt Saturn has also halted Ledger sales following a customer report of a hidden chip in a device purchased in Germany.
The company is investigating the claims and has not yet confirmed the existence of the alleged implant. The incident has raised concerns about the security of hardware wallets, which are designed to store cryptocurrencies offline.
