Study identifies geographic cluster of prenatally detected fetal defects in California's San Joaquin Valley

A geographic cluster of prenatally detected fetal defects has been identified in California's San Joaquin Valley.

The study, published in the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, found that the cluster was associated with higher rates of certain birth defects, such as neural tube defects and heart defects.

More research is needed to understand the cause of this cluster.
