This Trend Change Is Most Concerning In September's CPI Report
Inflation trends in the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report have raised concerns, with a notable shift in the trend change observed in September.
The report, released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, showed that the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.4 percent in September on a seasonally adjusted basis.
The all items index has increased 5.4 percent over the last 12 months, the largest advance since January 1991.
The increase was broad-based, with the largest contributions coming from the indexes for energy, used cars and trucks, and shelter.
