Marsh to pay biggest share of $800mn settlement with Credit Suisse over Greensill collapse
Marsh will pay the largest share of a $800 million settlement with Credit Suisse over the collapse of supply chain finance firm Greensill Capital.
The deal is a rare example of a broker bearing the largest share of a settlement rather than insurers who wrote the policies.
Marsh's parent company, Marsh & McLennan Companies, said it would take a $450 million after-tax charge in the fourth quarter to cover its share of the settlement.
The settlement resolves a long-running dispute between the two companies over who was responsible for the collapse of Greensill, which left many of its clients, including steelmaker Liberty House, facing significant financial losses.
