SBI hikes home loan interest rates: Higher EMI or longer tenure? Costs compared for ₹30, ₹50 lakh and ₹1 crore loans

SBI has increased its home loan interest rates by 25 basis points effective from 15 October 2026. This hike will impact the Equated Monthly Installments (EMIs) and total interest paid for various loan amounts. Borrowers can mitigate the increased costs by opting for higher EMIs instead of extending their loan tenure.
