Japanese prosecutors charge US marine suspected of robbing and killing woman

Japanese prosecutors have charged a 20-year-old US marine, Devin Jacob Ballard, with the murder and robbery of a 39-year-old woman, Anna Yagi, in a hotel on the island of Okinawa. Ballard, a lance corporal assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, denies the charges.

The incident has caused tension between the US military and Japanese authorities, with some locals calling for the removal of US military bases from Okinawa.
