Tanker feared sinking off Oman after reported projectile strike

A tanker is feared to be sinking off the coast of Oman after being struck by a suspected projectile, leaving it burning and largely submerged. The incident occurred near the Strait of Hormuz, a major shipping route, and has raised concerns about maritime safety in the region.

The UK's Maritime Trade Operations has confirmed the reports and advised vessels to exercise caution when transiting the area. The cause of the strike is still under investigation.
