Key Changes and Requirements
1. Survey and Certification Options
Indian ships/ship-owners can now choose between MMDs and ROs for statutory surveys and certification of safety equipment, safety radio, and MARPOL surveys.
- MMDs: Government surveyors
- ROs: Recognized Organizations (private surveyors)
ROs: Indian Register of Shipping, American Bureau of Shipping, Det Norske Veritas, etc.

This circular is issued in the interest of ease of doing business and enhancing the capacity of the Administration's surveyors.
