Key Changes and Requirements
1. Online Application Procedure
Follow these steps to apply for MEO Class-I and MEO Class-II Certificate of Competency (CoC) online:
- Go to www.dgshipping.gov.in, click "eGovernance", login, then "CoC, DC Endorsement, GMDSS Radio Operator", and finally "Application for Certificate of Competency (CoC)".
- Ensure your photo and signature are visible. If not, upload them again by sending an email to the concerned MMD.
- Fill in the required data and submit the application.
- Pay the fees online and upload required documents using the link "Pay CoC & CoP Fees, Upload Documents and View Status".
- The CoC will be dispatched by speed post, and you'll receive a confirmatory mail with tracking details.
2. MMD Procedure
Upon receiving an online application, the MMD will:
- Scrutinize the application and forward it to the Engineer and Ship Surveyor (E&SS) of the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS).
- File all relevant documents at the MMD and not send them to DGS.
Note: Physical submission of CoC application at MMD for MEO Class-I and MEO Class-II will not be entertained from 01.03.2017.
