1. Award Categories and Nominations

The National Maritime Day Celebrations (Central) Committee invites nominations for the following awards:

• Varuna Award - Recognizes sustained and outstanding contribution to the Indian Maritime Sector.
• NMD Award of Excellence - Honors lifetime exceptional and distinguished achievements in the Indian Maritime Sector.
• Outstanding Contribution to Maritime Education and Training - Recognizes sustained contribution to Maritime Education and Training.
• Gallantry Award to Indian Seafarers - Recognizes exemplary acts of Gallantry shown during the year ended 31.12.2015.
• Best Foreign Employer of Indian Seafarers - Recognizes the best foreign employer of Indian seafarers.
• Most Compassionate Employer of Indian Seafarers - Recognizes the most compassionate employer of Indian seafarers.
• The Indian Shipping Company with Highest Growth of Indian Flag Vessels - Recognizes the Indian shipping company with the highest growth of Indian flag vessels.
• Ship (Indian Flag in Foreign Trade) of the Year - Recognizes the best Indian flag ship in foreign trade.
• Youngest Officer awarded the IInd Mate Certificate of Competency in 2015 - Recognizes the youngest officer awarded the IInd Mate Certificate of Competency in 2015.
• Youngest Officer awarded the MEO Class IV Certificate of Competency in 2015 - Recognizes the youngest officer awarded the MEO Class IV Certificate of Competency in 2015.
• Rating obtained the IInd Mate/MEO Class IV Certificate of Competency in 2015 - Recognizes the rating who obtained the IInd Mate/MEO Class IV Certificate of Competency in 2015.

2. Nomination Deadline and Submission

Nominations should be sent to the National Maritime Day Celebrations (Central) Committee latest by 26th February, 2016.

Nominations for IMO Bravery Award should also be forwarded as per IMO Circular number 3586 dated 08 September 2015.
