Key Changes and Requirements
1. Application Process
Applicants must submit their application directly to the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), an authorized Inspecting Agency.
- Application Destination: IRS
- Application Review: IRS inspects and forwards the application to the Director Seamen’s Employment Office (DSEO) within 15 days.
- License Issuance: DSEO examines the application and issues or renews the Recruitment and Placement of Seafarers (RPS) license within 15 days of receipt.
2. Relevant Rules and Notices
Applicants should refer to the Merchant Shipping (R & P S) Rules, 2005 as amended and relevant DGS Orders, Merchant Shipping Notices available at the DGS official website.
