Training Record Book for the deck cadets undergoing B.Sc. Nautical Science/B.S. Nautical Technology/B.Sc. Maritime Science or other degree programmes.
Key Changes and Requirements
1. New Training Record Book (TRB) — Annexure-I
The Directorate General of Shipping has approved a new Training Record Book (TRB) for deck cadets undergoing 3/4 year degree programmes. This TRB should be used by all such cadets as part of their Structured Shipboard Training Programme.
- Obtaining the TRB: Cadets can obtain the TRB from the Company of Master Mariners of India (CMMI) either by post or in person. Alternatively, METs can collect the TRBs from CMMI and distribute them to their students.
- TRB Features: Each TRB will have a unique number with security features, and CMMI will maintain records of issuance.
2. Instructions for Stakeholders
All DGS approved MET institutions and shipping companies are urged to ensure that cadets are in possession of an approved TRB prior to commencing on-board training. Upon completion of on-board training, candidates shall submit the completed TRBs, certified by the Company Training Officer (CTO), to the Mercantile Marine Department.
Failure to comply with the TRB requirements may result in delays or rejection of certification applications.
