Key Changes and Requirements
1. Extension of Compliance Timeline for Chapter 9 (Fire)
The compliance timeline for Chapter 9 (Fire) of MODU Code 1989 or above is extended till 31st December 2030. Annual reports shall be submitted to the Directorate.
2. Allowance for Existing MODUs
Existing MODUs certified under 1979 MODU Code and currently employed in Indian waters can participate in the tendering process and be awarded work, provided they obtain certification under 1989 MODU Code or higher by 31st December 2029.
Note: ONGC must maintain high safety standards, 24x7 Offshore Supply Vessel availability, and sufficient helicopters for emergency assistance.
