Key Changes and Requirements
1. Applicability and Deadline
SOLAS Chapter III, Regulation 1.5 applies to all lifeboat on-load release mechanisms on Indian vessels. Compliance is required by the first scheduled dry-docking after 1 July 2014, but not later than 1 July 2019.
2. Compliance Actions
Non-compliant lifeboat on-load release and retrieval mechanisms must be replaced/modified as per guidelines in MSC.1/Circ.1392.

3. Exemptions
Requirements do not apply to rescue boat release and retrieval mechanisms.
Important Note
Non-compliance may result in ships being detained or restricted from service.
