Key Changes and Requirements
1. Exemption Period
Vessels engaged by Defence agencies for missions of National importance are exempted from complying with the SPS Code as per MS Notice 22 of 2013 till 31.03.2015.
2. Conditions for Exemption
- a. Engaged by Defence/DRDO agency
- b. Complies with IMO OSV guidelines
- c. Total souls on board (including master and crew) does not exceed 50 or LSA capacity
- d. Complies with all other conditions of MS Notice 22/2013
Note: This relaxation is granted as a one-time measure. From 01.04.2015, all vessels engaged by defence agencies/DRDO shall comply with the MS Notice 22 of 2013.
