Grant of license to foreign flag ships
Key Changes and Requirements
1. Deployment and Training Commitments
Companies/shipowners/charterers must deploy the prescribed number of Indian crew/officers within 90 days of license grant. If they fail to do so, they must provide training slots for Indian crew/officers for the entire period of license requirement.
- Training slots: Should be provided during the calendar year and an undertaking should be given.
- Surplus training slots: Can be offered on other Indian companies' ships.
2. Training Commitment Fulfillment
Training commitment must be fulfilled by 31st December of each calendar year. Charterers opting to buy training mandays must submit an undertaking from the tonnage tax companies.
Maritime Training Trust (MTT) will verify the training mandays offered to charterers.
3. Submission of Forms
Companies must submit Forms 1 and 2 to the CEO, MTT at his address on or before 31st January of every calendar year. For the calendar year 2011, the deadline is 31st March 2012.
Non-compliance may result in license revocation.
