Key Changes and Requirements
1. Campaign Details
A concentrated inspection campaign (CIC) on fire safety systems will be held from 01.09.2012 to 30.11.2012.
- Purpose: To ensure compliance with SOLAS Chapter II-2 (Fire protection, fire detection, and fire extinction arrangements).
- Duration: 3 months
2. Inspection Process
During the campaign, Port State Control Inspections will verify fire safety arrangements, maintenance records, and other applicable documentation in detail.
- Checklist: A checklist of 12 selected items will be used to verify critical areas for shipboard fire safety systems.
- Availability: The checklist will be available on the IOMOU Ocean MoU website (http://www.iomou.org) about a month prior to the campaign.
II/4 Checklist items will cover documentation, equipment, and crew familiarization.
Important Note
Indian PSC Officers will be required to upload the CIC checklists filled during the inspections while uploading PSC reports.
