Key Changes and Requirements
1. Dispensation from SBMC
Indian ships, other than passenger vessels, operating exclusively along the Indian coast are exempted from the requirement of Shore Based Maintenance Contract (SBMC) for radio communication equipments.
- Condition: The Cargo Ship Radio/Safety Radio Certificate must be endorsed to that effect.
Rule 17 of M.S. (DSRC) Rule 1995 is exempted for these ships.
