Key Changes and Requirements
1. Dispensation from SBMC
Indian ships, other than passenger vessels, exclusively operating along the Indian coast are exempted from the requirement of Shore Based Maintenance Contract (SBMC) for a period of one year.
- Exemption Period: Up to 30th May, 2012
- Condition: Cargo Ship Radio/Safety Radio Certificate must be endorsed to that effect
Note: This exemption does not apply to passenger vessels.
