Guide lines for carrying out Annual/Intermediate/Renewal surveys out side window period
Key Changes and Requirements
1. Annual/Periodical Radio Surveys
Surveys must be carried out within 3 months before or after each anniversary date. If commenced within the window period but completed outside, certificates may be endorsed. If not commenced within the window period, approach the Directorate with valid justifications.
2. Intermediate/Periodical Surveys (SAFCON, MARPOL, SEQ)
Surveys must be carried out within 3 months before or after the 2nd or 3rd anniversary date. Same rules apply as above.
3. Renewal Surveys
Surveys must be commenced prior to certificate expiry. No special permission required if expiry is at sea and vessel is underway to repair facility. Otherwise, approach the Directorate with valid justifications.
4. Dry Docking Surveys
Minimum two inspections every 36 months. No special permission required if expiry is at sea and vessel is underway to dry docking facility. Otherwise, approach the Directorate with valid justifications.
Non-compliance may result in vessel detention and/or penalties as per applicable regulations.
