Key Changes and Requirements

Candidates appearing for NCV examination are required to have an approved TAR BOOK for their sea service.

Exceptions: Candidates who served after 1998 but before February 2002 need not produce a TAR BOOK. From February 2002 onwards, it's mandatory.

Approved sea service is propelling time endorsed by owners/managers. TAR books must be endorsed by an Examiner of Engineers before service.

TAR books can be obtained from the Institute of Marine Engineers (India) office at Nerul, Navi Mumbai, or other designated offices.
