Key Changes and Requirements
1. Conversion Procedure
Officers with Certificate of Service must convert to Certificate of Competency (CoC) before 1st February 2002.
- Training: Complete approved training course(s) based on experience and certificate grade.
- Assessment: Undergo oral assessment by examiners appointed by the Chief Examiner of Engineers.
2. Training Course Duration
- 1st Class Certificate of Service: 10 days to 4 months, depending on experience.
- 2nd Class Certificate of Service: 10 days to 3 months, depending on experience.
II/4 Relevant training courses are available through approved training institutions.
Important Note
All concerned, including Indian Navy officers, shipping companies, and training institutions, must ensure a uniform system of conversion.
