Type Approval of Life Saving Appliances (LSA)

Ship Owners, Ship Managers, and Surveyors

Key Changes and Requirements
1. Existing Life Saving Appliances (LSA) — SOLAS 74, IMO Resolutions
LSAs present during registration must have approval from a flag administration or IACS member society.
2. New Life Saving Appliances — Indian Administration Approval
New LSAs must have:
- Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the Indian Administration
- Indian manufacture with DGS approval
- LOA from the Indian flag administration
