Applicable to: Deck Cadets, Sponsoring Companies (INSA, FOSMA, MASSA members)

Pre-sea 6-month Certification Course for Deck Cadets

The course duration is 6 months, including 4 basic STCW courses.

Only approved institutes can conduct this course. Sponsored candidates must have a 10+2 pass with PCM 60% and English 50%, max age 20.

Institutes: Approved, complying with DGS Order 1 of 2003, benchmarked or taking steps to be
Cadets: 10+2 pass, PCM 60%, English 50%, max age 20, sponsored by INSA, FOSMA, or MASSA members

Companies must give undertakings to DGS, sponsor equal numbers for regular 1-year course.

Undertaking: To DGS, indicating institute and cadets for 6-month and 1-year courses
Sponsorship: Equal numbers for regular 1-year course

II/4 Certificate issued after completion, followed by 36 months (24 with approved Ship Board Structure Training Programme) sea service
