Key Changes and Requirements
1. Amendments to STCW 78 as amended — IMO resolutions MSC.373(93), MSC.374(93), MSC.396(95), MSC.397(95), MSC.416(97) and MSC.417(97)
The following amendments to the STCW Convention and Code have been adopted and entered into force:
- 2014 Amendments: Updated Chapter I of the Convention and Code, Part A, effective January 1, 2016.
- 2015 Amendments: Updated Chapter I, Regulations I/1 and I/2, Chapter V, and introduced new section V/3, effective January 1, 2017.
- 2016 Amendments: Updated Chapters I and V of the Convention and Code, including Regulations V/2 and V/4, effective July 1, 2018.
II/4 Compliance with the Merchant Shipping (Standard of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers) Rules, 2014, as amended.
Important Note
All stakeholders are required to comply with the provisions of the Merchant Shipping (Standard of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers) Rules, 2014, as amended, to give full effect to the rules.
