Key Changes and Requirements
1. Bank Guarantee Linking
The RPS module will be modified to link the number of seafarers engaged with the Bank Guarantee furnished. This will prevent RPS companies from engaging excess seafarers beyond the permissible limit.
- Effective Date: 15.03.2022
- Penalty for Non-Compliance: Not specified in the circular
2. Review and Compliance
All existing RPS companies must review their RPS profile and ensure the number of seafarers engaged does not exceed the permissible limit vis-à-vis the Bank Guarantee furnished.
- Action Required: Furnish additional Bank Guarantee if the number of seafarers engaged exceeds the permissible limit
- Deadline: Before 15.03.2022
Important Note
Failure to comply with the revised module may result in legal consequences as per the Merchant Shipping (Recruitment and placement of Seafarers) Rules, 2016.
