Key Changes and Requirements
1. Course Approval Checklist
DGS approved MTIs can apply to conduct the Extra First Class Engineer Certification course. The application should include the documents listed in the attached checklist.
2. Clarification on Rules
The wording in the previous circular has been updated to reflect the correct rule number in the Merchant Shipping (Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for seafarers) Rules 2014.
II/4 Checklist for MTIs for Extra First Class course
Important Note
MTIs must have a minimum grade of 1 under CIP or CRISIL/CARE/ICRA/SMERA to be considered for approval.
