Requirement of ETO TAR Book for Trainee Electro Technical Officer

Applicable to: Trainee Electro Technical Officers
Effective Date: 09.01.2019
Superseded Circulars: DGS Circular 131 of 2015

Key Changes and Requirements

1. Clarification on ETO TAR Book Requirement

The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) clarifies that the DGS circular 131 of 2015, used for ETO examination assessment, should be read with associated circulars, including STCW Training Circular No.01 of 2011 and Merchant Shipping (STCW) Rules, 2014. This means the requirement for a Training and Assessment Record Book (TAR Book) for trainee ETOs is binding.

2. Applicability of ETO TAR Book

The DGS-approved ETO onboard TAR Book is applicable to trainee electro-technical officers who have performed sea-going service on or after 31st August 2015.

II/4  Training and Assessment Record Book (TAR Book)
Important Note
