Key Changes and Requirements
1. Revised Form of Institute Criteria
The criteria for institutes applying for approval to set up Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs) have been revised.
- Eligible Institutes: Those promoted, owned, managed by Central and State Governments, public sector undertakings, or registered non-profit public trusts or companies registered under section 8 of the Indian Companies Act, 2013, with management support of shipping professionals.
- Existing Institutes: Societies that have already been granted approval by DGS can continue, provided profits are reinvested for the institute's purposes.
Note: This circular supersedes Training Circular No.11 of 2018.
