China agrees to ‘halve’ hybrid car exports to EU in landmark deal

China has agreed to 'halve' its exports of hybrid cars to the EU in a landmark deal aimed at protecting European jobs. The agreement, reached after months of negotiations, could see China's shipments fall by more than half over four years, cutting millions of vehicles.

The EU's trade commissioner, Maroš Šefčovič, described the deal as the first of its kind and a significant step in addressing the imbalance in trade between the two regions.
