Australian treasurer Jim Chalmers has urged against mocking, cancelling, or talking down to One Nation supporters, following the party's strong showing in the Queensland election.

Chalmers said it was important to engage with and understand the concerns of One Nation voters, rather than dismissing them.

He also called on social media platforms to prevent the livestreaming of the planned US military execution in December, as Australia opposes the death penalty.
