Key Changes and Requirements
1. Update Certificate of Competency (CoC) Notes
Due to changes in STCW regulations, the note on the front pastedown endpaper page of your CoC needs to be updated.
- Old Note: "The original of this certificate must be kept available in accordance with Regulation I/2, paragraph 9 of the Convention while serving on a ship".
- New Note: "The original of this certificate must be kept available in accordance with Regulation I/2, paragraph 11 of the Convention while serving on a ship".
2. CoC Stamping
Seafarers should approach the nearest Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) to get their CoCs stamped with the new note at their convenience. No additional fees will be charged.
Important: Failure to update and stamp your CoC may lead to issues during Port State Control inspections.
