Comprehensive Inspection Programme for pre-sea maritime training institutes, as per the DGS, GoI's Order No.25 of 2013 - amendment of the assessment checklist - reg

Applicable to: All Maritime Training Institutes approved by the DGS, GoI

Effective Date: 02.05.2016

Key Changes and Requirements

The revised checklist introduces the following changes:

Weightage revision: Higher weightage given to placement for shipboard training and quality of education and training.
New section: One additional section (Area for Laboratories) added, making it 6 sections in total.
Grading system: Institutes will be graded in three groups (A), (B), and (C) based on their overall score.

The revised checklist will be finalized and implemented for the Comprehensive Inspection Programme (CIP) for 2016 onwards.

Comments: All stakeholders are invited to send their comments on the revised checklist by 15th May, 2016.
Workshop: The DGS, GoI will hold a workshop for Recognized Organizations (ROs) to ensure uniform implementation of the revised CIP.

Important Note

All pre-sea training institutes are informed that the CIP for 2016 onwards shall be undertaken with the revised checklist only, once finalized.
