Key Changes and Requirements
1. Verification of Ownership — Rule 27 of the Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) Rules, 1999
Vessels owned by partnership firms or companies must submit proof of ownership for registration.
- Documents required: Partnership deed or company resolution
- Submission: To the Registrar of Shipping, along with the application for registration
2. Application Process
Applicants can submit their applications online through the Directorate General of Shipping website.
- Fees: As per the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Rules, 2005
- Processing time: 30 days from the date of receipt of application
Note: Incomplete applications or applications without the required fees will be rejected.
