Key Changes and Requirements
1. Vessel Registration for Partnership Firms
Partnership firms cannot register vessels in their name under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
- Eligibility: Only Indian citizens, companies, or co-operative societies can register vessels.
- Existing Registrations: Vessels registered in the name of a partnership firm must be re-registered in the name of the joint owners based on their shareholdings.

Important Note
Vessels registered incorrectly must be re-registered to comply with the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
