Key Changes and Requirements
1. Conversion of DNS Course to GP Rating Course
The provision allowing Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs) to convert the Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) course leading to B.Sc (Nautical) degree into a General Purpose Rating (GP Rating) course has been withdrawn.
- Reason: Excess capacity for GP Rating courses and poor absorption capacity in the shipping industry.
- Effect: MTIs cannot convert DNS courses to GP Rating courses anymore.

MTIs are advised to inform all affected candidates and update their course offerings accordingly.
