Key Changes and Requirements
1. Extension of Compliance Deadline
The deadline for seafarers to comply with Security Training provisions as per STCW 2010 has been extended to 30 June 2015.
- Affected Seafarers: Those yet to obtain necessary certification for STSDSD and SSO courses.
2. Clarification on SSO Certificate Holders
SSO certificate holders are not required to undergo further training or obtain certification under Regulation VI/6 of STCW Convention related to competency for security awareness and training for seafarers with designated duties.
Note: This extension applies only to seafarers currently on board Indian Flag ships who have not yet attended the required security training.
Important Note
All seafarers are advised to ensure they comply with the extended deadline to avoid any disruption in their service.
