Training Circular No.2 of 2013 - Temporary suspension of new approvals and increase in capacity of ECDIS course as per IMO Model Course 1.27 (2012 edition) and STCW 2010 Circular No.29 of 2012.

1. Temporary Suspension of New Approvals
Consequent to the issuance of STCW 2010 Circular No. 29 of 2012, there has been an overwhelming response to start ECDIS courses. To curb overcapacity, the Director General of Shipping has decided to temporarily suspend further approvals for new ECDIS courses.
- Effective Date: 16.02.2013
- Last Date for Proposals: 15.02.2013
- Processing of Proposals: Proposals received on or before 15.02.2013 will be processed on merits. No proposals shall be accepted thereafter, until further instructions.
2. Inspection and Approval Process
Training Institutes/Training Providers are advised to be ready for inspection immediately upon filing of application. The Directorate will endeavor to complete inspection by 28.02.2013. If serious deficiencies are observed, deemed approvals will be withdrawn, and applications disqualified.
This circular will be reviewed after one year.
