Key Changes and Requirements
1. Freeze on DNS Course Intake — Restricting further increase in the intake
Due to a significant excess of DNS course intake over structured shipboard training slots, the Directorate General of Shipping has decided to freeze the approved intake for the DNS course at the current sanctioned strength until the backlog for structured shipboard training is reduced.
- Ban on new approvals: No new applications for new institutes, courses, or additional intake of students for the DNS Course will be entertained.
- Review of applications: Applications already received and processed will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, considering past track records and commitments for full placements in structured shipboard training.
DG Shipping Circulars:
Training Circular No.20 of 2004, M S Notice No.21 of 2009, DGS Order No.2 of 2007, and DG Shipping Circular No.01 of 2008
Important Note
This ban is subject to a calibrated revaluation of the gap between the DNS intake and the availability of training slots.
